Van Doren’s Pond at 27th St.

We had a good downpour this morning around 6am. The sewers couldn’t handle it all - I drove through a 6″ deep, 20 yard wide lake near the Memorial Union around 6:30, even after the heavy stuff had let up. After it got light enough out I went on a little expedition to see how the streams around town were doing - they’re raging torrents. Of course, it’s nothing approaching the Flood of 1951, but we haven’t had this much water flowing in the streams for quite a few months. You can hear the difference, too. Here are two audio recordings made at Big Creek and Gustad Drive on the FHSU campus two days ago, and this morning. Quite a difference, eh?
